| Scholarship |
■ Incentive funding for foreign students paying their own expenses Provided yearly for one year (48,000 yen per month) by the Japan Student Services Organization through recommendation from the school. Students who receive an outstanding score on the Exam for Japanese University Admission will also be eligible to receive the same amount. In this case a spot will be reserved so that the student will be able to receive this amount after they enter college. ■ TIJ's Most Outstanding Student Award TIJ recognizes students for grade excellence, attitude, and other performance with a cash award when they graduate. ■ TIJ's Good Attendance Award TIJ recognizes students for high attendance with a cash award when they graduate. |
| Insurance |
■ National Health Insurance Foreign students who have special permission of residence are required by law to enroll in the National Health Insurance system. The insurance premium is about 1,000 yen per month ■ Disaster Compensation Scheme for Students in Japanese Language Schools This is an insurance system that covers illnesses, injuries, deaths, rescure’s expenses, and compensations. All TIJ students are required to enroll. |
| Part-time job | Students are required to file an application with the Immigration Office for outside activities such as a part-time job. The Immigration Office will grant permission for a part-time job in the given job category up to a maximum of 28 hours per week, or 8 hours per day during vacation. |
| Lifestyle guidance | We will conduct an orientation for new students on living in Japan, higher education and other information. Counseling will also be provided individually to assist students in solving problems. We will provide part-time job information to students after we examine the employers and feel the workplaces are safe for our students. |
| Management of attendance and grade | Attendance and grade will be managed strictly, and reports will be sent to parents/guardian in your home country as well as to your guarantor in Japan. |
