The emergency declaration was lifted at the end of September. As the number of newly infected people continues to decrease, TIJ Tokyo Institute of Japanese will take the following measures for the fall semester starting on October 11.
In principle, the classes will be held in the classroom three days a week and online two days a week, and some classes will be held in the classroom five days a week.
However, if there is a case of new coronavirus infection in a class, that class will be switched to online for the entire week. If there is an outbreak of infection in more than one class at the same time, all classes will go online.
We will continue to provide daily temperature checks, physical condition checks, classroom ventilation and disinfection, and vaccination support.

The summer vacation for the International Student has ended on August 23, but due to the continued declaration of National emergency, the TIJ Tokyo Institute of Japanese is taking the following measures.
(1) The classes
We continue to offer all the classes online all day.
(2)COVID-19 Antigen testing
All the staff and teachers who work from home in shifts and teachers dispatched to companies for Japanese lessons are subject to antigen testing twice a month.
3) Vaccination support
We continue to check the latest information from each local government regarding vaccinations for students and provide support for making reservations.

Report on Covid-19 (14th report)

The Tokyo Metropolitan Government has declared a state of emergency for the third time from April 25 to May 11. In addition, 12 cities in the northwestern part of Chiba Prefecture, where many of our students live, have taken “pre-emergency measures”. In response to this, TIJ Tokyo Institute of Japanese is taking the following measures.
(1) International student classes
We have already switched to 50% online classes from April 20 (Tuesday). For the time being, we will work to prevent the spread of the infection under this system.
(2) Measures to be taken during the Golden Week holidays
The school will be closed from April 29th to May 5th due to the Golden Week holidays, but we will continue to provide thorough instructions on how to spend the time during the vacation to take care of infection control measures, and we will have a system in place to contact the school immediately if anything happens during the holidays.
3) Office
Our staff will be working from home in shifts until the end of May. The office will be open from 8:30am to 5:30pm as usual. We would appreciate it if you could contact us by e-mail.

We wish a Happy New Year and are looking forward to working with you again this year.
In light of the emergency declaration by Prime Minister Suga on January 7, TIJ Tokyo Institute of Japanese has decided to take the following measures.
①Classes
・International student classes:
Classes will be held in classrooms three days a week and online classes two days a week.
Duration: From January 12 until the emergency declaration is lifted
・Saturday class
Classes will be held in the classroom, but students can also participate online if they wish.
・Japanese Language Teaching Practice Course will not be held until the state of emergency is lifted.
② Office Support
The office staff will work from home in shifts. If you would like to visit us, please send us an email beforehand.
The office hours are 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. as usual.
③About students in need
The TIJ Student Fund will support students who are in need, such as those who have reduced their part-time jobs due to the spread of the new coronavirus infection, by providing a consultation service and, if necessary, the TIJ Student Fund will support.

The situation on covid-19 is changing day by day and information is being updated on a daily basis. We would like to report the current situation of students and new students.
(1) Current students
From June to September, the Ministry of Education provided a total of 4.9 million yen (100,000 yen per student for 49 students) to the current students. In addition, Japan Student Services Organization (JASSO) provided 400,000 yen (20,000 yen per student for 20 students) to the current students for the ” subsidized project for the measures of new coronavirus.
Thanks to the support from the government and administration, our students are able to move forward without giving up their studies.
(2) New students
From October 1, international students, where the infection situation is stable, will be allowed to enter Japan in order by submitting a “Residence Track”.
The Residence Track is a pledge made by the institute to the Minister of Foreign Affairs and the Minister of Health, Labour and Welfare regarding quarantine measures such as staying at home for 14 days, not using public transportation, and a 14-day health follow-up period.
As of October 28, the TIJ has accepted a new student from Taiwan. The students of Vietnam and China are starting to be issued visas. We are preparing for starting the new classes of the coming students.
We have also revised some of our guidelines with reference to the “Hygiene Management Manual for New Coronavirus Infections in Schools – A New Way of Life for Schools” (Version 4) issued by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology. The new guidelines are as follows.
We will continue to review them as needed. We will continue to revise it as necessary, and will report on this information on our website.

We, TIJ Japanese Language Institute, have prepared a guideline on how to respond when a student or teacher/staff member of the institute become a close contact or an infected person.

For students,
You will be contacted by a health center or a store, etc. and will be asked to take PCR testing.
You will not attend school from the date of that call until the PCR test results are negative.
You will not go to school until you find your roommate’s PCR test results are negative.
(1) If you are a close contact,
You will be contacted by a health center or your employer and will be asked to take PCR testing
You will not attend school from the date of that call until the PCR test results are negative.
(2) If you are not a close contact person
Talk to the school.
The school will call your part-time job to check the situation and if necessary, you can have a
PCR test done at your own expense, or you can stay home for 2 weeks.
The class does not come to school and will be conducted online (about 2 weeks).
*In any case, you should first consult with the school.
For teachers and staff,
You won’t go to work until the PCR test results are negative.
You won’t go to work until your family or roommate’s PCR test results come back negative.

Close contact is defined as a person who came into contact with an infected person at a distance of less than one meter for more than 15 minutes without taking any preventive measures against infection.
We will continue to share information thoroughly within the office, understand students’ physical condition, and support students as much as possible. In addition, we will continue to respond to them calmly and flexibly while monitoring the countermeasures and policies of the Japanese government and the Tokyo Metropolitan Government.
